CONGRATS to Miss NC for sweeping 3 of 5 Awards

Special Awards were given to the contestants in 5 categories. Miss North Carolina swept the Miss Photogenic, Class and Style as well as the 2007 LUWIP Edith Bargor Award, while Miss Pennsylania received the Miss Congentiality award.
Miss Mamawa L. Fofana of Baltimore, Maryland Captured the Miss Liberia in the US Title on Friday,July 27 2007 Thirteen young Liberian women from all across the US graced the stage of the Philadelphia Convention center to compete the coveted Miss Liberia in the US Crown!!!
North Carolina is proud of Miss Gwendolyn Mensah and want to CONGRATULATE her on her drive and grace. She is an excellent young lady and will start working on her platform of "Empowering and Enhancing the growth of the Disabled "

Congrats to Gwendolyn Mensah - Miss Liberia NC 2007

The night was beautiful as the contestants inspired the audience with their talents and mesmerized with their beauty. It was a tough competition as Miss Mardea Harmon did a skit about Liberia - a new beginning, Miss Ayele Gbeyon recited 'Phenomenom Woman' and Gwendolyn Mensah recited a poem she composed 'Behind the Eyes of a Woman'.
In the end, Miss Gwendolyn took the title as Miss Liberia NC 2007.

Miss Gwendolyn Mensah will be representing NC at the National pageant in Philadelphia on Friday, July 27. Today's Woman of Liberia would like to thank all our sponsors and parents of our contestants for their support.We also want to extend a heartfelt CONGRATULATIONS to all our contestants, we are happy you participated and hope you continue to work with the organization.

Today’s Woman of Liberia’s mission is to encourage and empower young ladies of Liberian decent to pursue higher education thereby serving as role models for other young women as well as join the ranks of other successful women before them. We also encourage these young women to be active participants in their communities by volunteering their services to other local organizations. The role of the Liberian woman has changed tremendously over the years, despite the war. Today,

can boast of being f irst in the Africa to have a female president! We aim to highlight the varied accomplishments of women of Liberian decent: Community Leaders, Politicians, Scholars, Mothers, Educators, Healers, Professionals, Athletes, Artists, etc. Today’s Woman Of Liberia also aim to serve as mentors as well as assist in locating scholarships for the ladies in the pageant.
